The story

The story behind Fuenteseca

Fuenteseca comes from Finca Fuenteseca, a limestone plateau nearly 900 to 1,000 meters up in Camporrobles, inside Spain's DO Utiel-Requena. Bodega Sierra Norte was founded in 1995 by three partner winemakers, and estate bottling under this label began in 1998. The third generation runs it now.

In 2000 it became the first winery in the Valencian Community to earn organic certification, and the wine is vegan. Grapes are picked at night to keep the fruit fresh, then pressed gently and fermented cold in stainless steel. Two months on fine lees, no oak. The white is a blend, 80% Macabeo and 20% Sauvignon Blanc, at 12% ABV.

Good to know

Fuenteseca questions, answered

Is Fuenteseca Sauvignon Blanc organic?
Yes. Bodega Sierra Norte certified organic in 2000, the first winery in the Valencian Community to do so, and the wine is vegan. The white is an estate blend of 80% Macabeo and 20% Sauvignon Blanc.
Where is Fuenteseca wine from?
It comes from Finca Fuenteseca in Camporrobles, in Spain's DO Utiel-Requena within the Valencian Community. The vineyards sit on limestone at nearly 900 to 1,000 meters, with cold nights after hot days.
What does Fuenteseca Sauvignon Blanc taste like?
It is bone dry and un-oaked, with citrus and green apple from cold stainless fermentation and two months on fine lees. Night harvesting keeps the fruit fresh. Serve it well chilled with seafood or rice dishes.
Is Fuenteseca a tequila or a wine?
Fuenteseca is both a name used by an aged Mexican tequila brand and this Spanish organic wine project from Bodega Sierra Norte. The wine label, founded in 1995 and estate bottling since 1998, is what we stock here.
Can I get Fuenteseca delivered or pick it up?
Yes. We offer same-day or next-day delivery across Nassau and Suffolk, free local delivery over $250, and free curbside pickup in Commack. We ship spirits to the states where it is legal, confirmed at checkout, so call (631) 343-7200 to confirm stock.
