Frescobaldi Italian Red
Tuscan Sangiovese from a family that started in 1308.
The story behind Frescobaldi
The Frescobaldi family has been making wine in Tuscany since 1308, when the first vines went in at Tenuta Castiglioni. That is seven centuries and thirty generations, now led by President Lamberto Frescobaldi. The family also planted the first documented Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Nero and Chardonnay in Tuscany at Castello Pomino in 1855, which is why their reds blend old Sangiovese discipline with a Bordeaux instinct.
Fourteen estates, twelve of them across Chianti Rufina, Montalcino, Bolgheri, Pomino, Chianti Classico and the Maremma. Each is treated as its own entity, blended to its own soil and microclimate rather than a house formula. Gambero Rosso named Frescobaldi Italian Winery of the Year in 2020.

Ten dollars for a soft Sangiovese and Cabernet blend that handles pizza and pasta.

Frescobaldi cocktails and pairings
Serve these at 60 to 65 degrees and decant the Nipozzano and Brunello an hour or two. Sangiovese tannin wants protein and salt.
