Finca Las Moras Cabernet
High desert Argentine Cabernet, poured in Commack for thirty years.
The story behind Finca Las Moras
Finca Las Moras was founded in 1993 in San Juan Province, Argentina, and takes its name from the wild blackberry trees growers planted as windbreaks around the vineyards. The estate sits under Grupo Peñaflor, the country's largest wine group, and its vineyards climb from roughly 600 meters in the Tulum Valley to 1,400 meters in Pedernal. That altitude and the sharp swing between day and night temperatures build dense fruit while keeping acidity intact.
Grapes are picked by hand and fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel. The standard Cabernet rests on fine lees in steel, while the Bourbon Cabernet spends time in oak for vanilla and sweet spice. We have carried the label through several vintages and it has never needed a sales pitch.
