The story behind Educated Guess
Educated Guess was founded in 2005 by Mark Albrecht, a wine industry veteran who built the label around a simple idea: winemaking is part chemistry, part instinct. The signature label, covered in chemical equations and formulas, says it plainly. Roots Run Deep Winery is a merchant label, buying fruit rather than owning vineyards, sourcing from premium growers and sub-appellations including parts of Beckstoffer Georges III and Oakville Money Road.
The Cabernet is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, usually 82 to 89 percent depending on vintage, rounded out with Merlot, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot and Malbec to soften tannins and fill the mid-palate. Small-lot fermented and aged 12 to 15 months in French oak, it brings toasted vanilla, mocha and cocoa spice to ripe blackberry and cassis. We have poured it for Long Island customers for years.
