Eagle Rare Bourbon
Ten years in charred oak, bottled at 90 proof in Kentucky.
The story behind Eagle Rare
Eagle Rare comes out of Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, on the low rye mash bill of corn, rye and malted barley that the house runs. The flagship spends a minimum of ten years in charred new oak, then goes into the bottle at 90 proof. That is a long rest for a bourbon at this price, and it shows in the glass.
Seagram's launched the name in 1975, and Sazerac later brought it under the Buffalo Trace roof. Older bottlings carried a single barrel label; today the standard 10 Year is a small batch, with single barrel store picks turning up now and then. We have poured and sold it across this counter for years, and it still moves faster than it lands.
