The story

The story behind Doc Swinson's

Doc Swinson's is an American whiskey brand in Ferndale, Washington, founded in 2017 by Master Blender Jesse Parker, Chris Cearns, Keith Seidel and Steve Main, growing out of the Distillers Way bottling house. The name honors Dr. David Swinson Maynard, a physician and one of Seattle's founding pioneers, which is why every label reads like a pre-Prohibition prescription pad.

They do not distill. Base spirit comes mainly from MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana and select Kentucky houses, then Parker's team matches lots backward to chosen casks: ex-Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry, ex-Cognac puncheons, Brazilian Amburana, and ex-rum solera networks. Everything is non-chill filtered, so the texture stays thick and the barrel character stays in the bottle.

No. Doc Swinson's is a non-distiller producer and independent blender and bottler. The team sources whiskey, then handles secondary maturation, blending and bottling rather than running a distillation plant.
Where is Doc Swinson's whiskey actually made?
The raw spirit is distilled mainly at MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and at legacy Kentucky distilleries. Finishing, blending and bottling happen at the company's Barrel Lab headquarters in Ferndale, Washington.

Mash bills vary because they blend batches. Core Session and Blender's Cut lots combine MGP's low rye bill at 75 percent corn, 21 percent rye, 4 percent barley with the high rye bill at 60, 36 and 4.

No. Every Doc Swinson's release is non-chill filtered, which leaves natural fatty acids, esters and proteins from the barrel in the bottle and gives the whiskey a heavier, more viscous mouthfeel.
