The story

The story behind D Collection

D Collection comes out of Kakheti, the eastern Georgian region where Saperavi has grown for centuries and where the Mukuzani micro-zone earned its own protected name. The wines are produced and estate-bottled by JSC Corporation Kindzmarauli, and Dozortsev and Sons Enterprises, a US importer founded by Leo Dozortsev in 1995, brings them here.

What sets the line apart is the grape itself. Saperavi is a teinturier, dark skin and dark flesh, so the juice starts red and the wines carry color and grip that surprise people tasting Georgian red for the first time. The dry Mukuzani rests in oak casks about nine months. We have sold this range long enough to know which bottles come back for a second.

Buying guidance

Which D Collection is right for you?

Every D Collection bottle we stock sits at $19.99, which for a Saperavi estate-bottled in Kakheti is honest money. That covers the dry Mukuzani, the dry Saperavi, and the Tsinandali white alike, so you can build a mixed three pack and compare the grape across styles without watching the total climb. Georgian reds at this price rarely show this much color and structure. Buy D Collection online and pick it up curbside in Commack, or take local delivery.

D Collection cocktails and pairings

Saperavi has the acid and tannin to stand up to fat and char. Keep the dry bottlings at the table and save the semi-sweet for after.
Good to know

D Collection questions, answered

Is D Collection Kindzmarauli wine sweet?
Yes. It is a late-harvest, naturally semi-sweet red wine balanced by the natural acidity and smooth tannins of the Saperavi grape. The sweetness reads as fruit rather than sugar, which is why it finishes cleaner than most dessert reds.
What grape is used to make D Collection Georgian red wines?
They are produced predominantly from 100% Saperavi grapes, a signature dark-skinned and dark-fleshed varietal native to the Caucasus region. Because the flesh is red too, the wines keep deep color and firm structure.
Who imports the D Collection wine line into the United States?
The brand is imported and distributed exclusively by Dozortsev and Sons Enterprises Ltd., based out of New Jersey. Leo Dozortsev founded the importing company in 1995, and the wines themselves are estate-bottled in Georgia by JSC Corporation Kindzmarauli.
Are D Collection clay bottle wines reusable or decorative?
Yes. The distinct ceramic and clay bottle editions are designed as collectible, decorative vessels that pay homage to ancient Georgian winemaking history. Rinse and keep them once the wine is gone; they hold up as shelf pieces.
Is D Collection Mukuzani a dry or sweet wine?
It is a dry red wine. Unlike the semi-sweet Kindzmarauli, Mukuzani is barrel-aged in oak casks for about 9 months to achieve a dry, velvety finish. We offer free curbside pickup in Commack and same-day or next-day local delivery across Nassau and Suffolk.
