The story

The story behind Cycles Gladiator

Cycles Gladiator was created in 2005 by Central Coast winemaker Adam LaZarre, originally under the Hahn Estates portfolio and now part of Bronco Wine Co. The fruit comes largely from California's Lodi and Central Coast regions, and the Sauvignon Blanc is a 100% varietal wine aged sur lie for seven months entirely in stainless steel, which builds texture while keeping the acidity clean and the profile free of oak.

The label carries an 1895 French poster from the Gladiator bicycle company, a red-haired rider mid-flight, a symbol of women's liberation and the suffrage movement. We have poured and sold this bottle for years, and the artwork still starts more conversations than the wine does. The wine holds its own.

Cycles Gladiator cocktails and pairings

Serve the Sauvignon Blanc cold, around 45 to 50 degrees, in a standard white glass. It wants acid and salt on the plate.

Cycles Gladiator questions, answered

Who owns Cycles Gladiator wine?
Cycles Gladiator is part of the Bronco Wine Co. portfolio. The brand was created in 2005 by Central Coast winemaker Adam LaZarre, originally launched under the Hahn Estates portfolio before moving to Bronco.
Where is Cycles Gladiator Sauvignon Blanc from?
It is a California wine. Sourcing centers on the Lodi and Central Coast viticultural regions, and the Sauvignon Blanc is a 100% varietal wine aged seven months sur lie in stainless steel tanks.
Is Cycles Gladiator Sauvignon Blanc oaked?
No. The wine is aged entirely in stainless steel for seven months on the lees, so it picks up texture and complexity without any oak influence. Expect clean acidity and a rounded mouthfeel rather than toast or vanilla.
What does the Cycles Gladiator label show?
The label reproduces an 1895 French poster from the Gladiator bicycle company, showing a red-haired woman soaring on a bicycle. The image was a historic symbol of women's liberation and the suffrage movement.
