Cutty Sark Scotch-blend
The light, unpeated Scotch that built the highball.
The story behind Cutty Sark
Cutty Sark was created on March 23, 1923, by London merchants Berry Bros. & Rudd, with partners Francis Berry and Hugh Rudd working alongside artist James McBey. The brief was unusual for the era: build a Scotch light enough to travel and mix, not a heavy peated dram. The blending backbone runs to Speyside, with grain whisky from North British and Invergordon and roughly 40 single malts, including Glenrothes, Glen Moray, Macallan and Highland Park.
The yellow label was a 1923 printing error that came out brighter than intended, and the brand kept it. After blending, the whisky rests 21 days in American oak to marry before chill filtration. It is entirely peat-free, which is why it reads citrus, vanilla and light honey instead of smoke. La Martiniquaise has owned the brand since late 2018.
