The story behind Cruz Garcia
Cruz Garcia Reál Sangria came out of Spain and landed in New York at the 1964 World's Fair, which means this brand has been poured at American tables for more than sixty years. The base wines are Spanish, drawn from La Mancha, Valencia, Alicante and Rioja, and the red leans on Tempranillo and Garnacha for its ruby color and fruit.
Nothing here is vintage dated. Cruz Garcia blends to a consistent house profile and releases the wine when it is ready to drink, which is the old Spanish way with sangria. We have carried it on Jericho Turnpike long enough to know exactly who buys the 3L and who wants a single 750mL for a Tuesday.
