Crosby Zinfandel
Lodi old vine Zinfandel, dry and jammy, priced like a Tuesday.
The story behind Crosby
Crosby Zinfandel comes out of Lodi, specifically the Mokelumne River sub-appellation of California's Central Valley, where the Kautz family grows the fruit. The vines average 45 years old, which is why the label can say old vine without stretching the truth. A portion finishes in oak barrels, and that is where the pepper spice and earthiness come from.
The label itself is a custom project built by T. Edward Wines, sourcing declassified grapes anonymously from established growers. Good fruit, no estate overhead, no marketing budget baked into the bottle. We have poured this for Long Island customers for years because it drinks like a wine twice its price.
