The story

The story behind Coastal Ridge

Coastal Ridge was established in 1989 under Joseph J.D. Franzia, a fourth generation California grape grower, and it sits inside the Bronco Wine Company portfolio the Franzia brothers started in 1973. The Cabernet is cellared and bottled in Lodi, California, from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, and it is built for immediate drinking rather than long oak naps.

We have poured this one for decades because it does the plain job well: black cherry, ripe plum and blackberry up front, then cedar, anise and a little vanilla behind. The 2017 vintage took Double Gold at the Sakura Awards in 2023, and the 2018 took Silver there in 2024. Standard 12.5% ABV, no fuss.
