The story behind Christian Brothers
Christian Brothers Brandy began with the De La Salle Christian Brothers, a French teaching order founded in 1680 that landed in Martinez, California, in 1868 to make sacramental wine. In 1940, Brother Timothy Diener, a science teacher turned winemaker, released the first Christian Brothers Brandy from Napa Valley fruit.
After World War II, Wisconsin distributors bought a 30,000-case aged cache, and that single purchase made the brand the backbone of the Wisconsin Brandy Old Fashioned. Heaven Hill Brands has owned it since 1999 and bottles it in Bardstown, Kentucky. We have poured it across this counter for three decades.
