The story

The story behind Cepas

Cepas is Argentine Malbec from Mendoza, drawn from vineyards planted 900 to 1,500 meters up in the Andean foothills, in the Uco Valley and Alto Agrelo. Shallow alluvial soils full of gravel and boulders, average temperatures near 14 to 15 degrees Celsius, and hard high-altitude sunlight build thick, dark skins. That is where the color and the plum come from.

The label is 100 percent Malbec, no blending, no apology. The name means vines in Spanish, and the wine is priced like what it is: everyday Mendoza red you can open on a Tuesday. We have carried it in Commack for years because it overdelivers at the shelf.

Buying guidance

Which Cepas is right for you?

Here is the honest math. Cepas Malbec 750mL runs $6.99, and the 1.5L is $9.99, which is a little over a dollar more per bottle equivalent. The Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L is also $9.99, and the Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc 750mL are $6.99 each. At these numbers you buy the magnum for the backyard and a couple of 750s for the week. Cepas cocktails and pairings

Serve Cepas Malbec slightly cool, 60 to 65 degrees, in a wide bowl so the plum and violet open up.
Good to know

Cepas questions, answered

Is Cepas Malbec dry or sweet?
Cepas Malbec is a dry red wine. It is fermented to dryness from 100 percent Malbec grapes, so the plum and cherry you taste is fruit, not sugar, with violet aromatics and a firm, food friendly finish.
Where is Cepas Malbec from?
Cepas Malbec comes from Mendoza, Argentina. The grapes are sourced from high-altitude vineyards in the Uco Valley and Alto Agrelo, between 900 and 1,500 meters up in the Andean foothills, where gravel soils and strong sun build thick skins.
What food pairs with Cepas Malbec?
Cepas Malbec pairs with grilled red meat such as flank steak or sirloin, roasted chicken, pork loin and lamb. It also works with tomato based pasta and hearty stews. Serve it slightly cool, around 60 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
Does Cepas Malbec need to breathe?
Cepas Malbec benefits from a few minutes of air. Pour it into a wide-bowled glass or a decanter and give it 15 to 20 minutes, which softens the tannin and lets the plum and violet aromatics come forward.
Can I get Cepas Malbec delivered or pick it up locally?
Yes. We offer same-day or next-day delivery across Nassau and Suffolk, free curbside pickup in Commack, and free local delivery on orders over $250. Wine ships to the states where it is legal, confirmed at checkout.
