The story behind Cask & Barrel
Bourbon barrel Cabernet is a style, not a place. Winemakers take ripe, dark fruited Cabernet and rest it in barrels that previously held bourbon, so the wine picks up toasted oak, vanilla and a warm caramel note on top of the grape's own blackberry and cassis character. The result is fuller and sweeter smelling than a standard Cabernet, with softer tannin and an easy, rounded finish.
