Carta Vieja Chardonnay
Chilean Chardonnay since 1825, poured by the magnum in Commack.
The story behind Carta Vieja
The del Pedregal family has been planting vines in Chile's Loncomilla Valley since 1825, when Carlos Adolfo del Pedregal came over from Asturias, Spain and put European cuttings in Maule soil. The Carta Vieja label itself arrived in 1978, when Alberto del Pedregal Aldunate made it the family's first commercial brand. Viña del Pedregal still farms the estate.
We have poured this Chardonnay across our counter for years because it does one thing honestly: 100% Chardonnay, no malolactic fermentation on the classic tier, so the pineapple, melon and apricot stay bright instead of turning buttery. Chilled, it drinks like a wine that costs twice the tag.

Carta Vieja keeps its Chardonnay lineup narrow and value-driven. The 1.5L magnum is the bottle we stock and sell most in Commack.

Which Carta Vieja is right for you?
The Carta Vieja Chardonnay 1.5L runs $11.99 at our Commack counter, and that is the whole story of why it moves. A magnum at that number covers a dinner party, a holiday table or a backyard grill without a second thought. Standard 750ml bottles of the classic varietal sit in the $6 to $9 tier elsewhere, so the magnum is the smarter buy per glass. We keep it in stock. The Cabernet, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc magnums are listed at the same $11.99 and come and go, so call ahead on those.
One magnum, eight glasses, grilled chicken and no one asking what it cost.
Dry, crisp and cheap enough to open on a Tuesday without ceremony.
Bright acidity cuts through sea bass, shrimp and a butter cream sauce.
Carta Vieja cocktails and pairings
Serve it at 45 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit in a standard white wine glass. Cold enough to sharpen the acidity, not so cold you lose the apricot.
