Carl Reh Riesling
Mosel Riesling, cold fermented, poured in Commack since the start.
The story behind Carl Reh
Carl Reh Senior founded the house in 1920 in Leiwen, on the Mosel River, as a trading company for grapes, must, and wine. The family kept buying fruit from Mosel valley vineyards and bottling it as Riesling, nothing else. In 1997 the winery merged with Hermann Kendermann to form Reh Kendermann, today Germany's largest wine exporter, and Carl Reh remains the core traditional line.
The technical turn came in 1995, when the winery adopted temperature controlled cold fermentation. Fruit is pressed gently, chilled to 5°C so heavy particulates drop out, then fermented cool to hold the peach and apricot aromatics intact. No new oak, ever. That is why the wine tastes like Riesling and not like a barrel.

Which Carl Reh is right for you?
Pricing here is honest value. The Carl Reh Riesling 750mL runs $14.99, and the 1.5L magnum is $14.99 as well, which makes the large format the smarter buy when you are feeding a table. The Sweet Red sits at $9.98 when we have it. Research puts the broader U.S. retail band for these bottlings between $8 and $14 per 750mL, so we sit at the top of that band and the bottle still earns it.
