The story behind Canadian Mist
Canadian Mist has been made in Collingwood, Ontario since 1967, on the shore of Georgian Bay. Barton Brands of Chicago started the label through a Quebec distillery, then built its own plant in Collingwood to keep pace. Brown-Forman owned it from 1971 to 2020; Sazerac owns it now. The grain is corn heavy, with rye and malted barley, and each grain is mashed, fermented and distilled on its own before blending. Continuous stainless steel column stills, triple distillation, Georgian Bay water, and a minimum of three years in charred white oak.
That build is why the whisky lands soft rather than sharp. Sweet corn leads; the rye sits behind it. We have poured Canadian Mist for decades to customers who want an easy, honest pour at a fair price.
