Boulard Calvados Brandy
French apple brandy, stocked in small numbers in Commack.
The story behind Boulard Calvados
Calvados is the apple and pear brandy of Normandy, France, made by fermenting cider and distilling it, then aging the spirit in oak. The Pays d'Auge style is the best known, and it tends to be distilled in a column still and aged in oak, which gives a rounder, fruit forward pour with baked apple, pear, vanilla and a little spice. It is a brandy, so treat it like one: neat, or in place of Cognac in a cocktail.
We keep Boulard Calvados Gran Solage 80 in the brandy section here in Commack. It is a small item for us, one or two bottles at a time, so call ahead at (631) 343-7200 before you make the trip.
