The story

The story behind Bote

Bote comes from Casca Wines, the independent Portuguese project winemaker Hélder Cunha founded in 2008. He built it around buying grapes from local growers across Portugal's microclimates rather than owning one estate, and the whites show that reach: Douro, Lisboa and Vinho Verde fruit, each bottled on its own terms.

The blends lean on native varieties, Malvasia Fina as the Douro base with Códega do Larinho and Gouveio alongside, and the northern grapes behind the Vinho Verde. Fermentation runs cool in stainless steel, no heavy oak, so the aromatics stay forward and the fruit stays crisp. We have poured these for years as the honest answer to a Tuesday night white.

Buying guidance

Which Bote is right for you?

Every Bote bottle on our shelf is $12.98, which is the whole argument for the brand. The Douro White, Douro Red and Rose all land at that single price, and the whites sit in the same $10 to $15 tier the rest of the line occupies nationally. You are getting Casca Wines fruit and native Portuguese grapes for the cost of a forgettable supermarket bottle. Buy Bote online and we will have it ready for pickup in Commack or on a local delivery run.

Bote cocktails and pairings

Serve these cold, 46 to 50 degrees, in a standard white glass so the aromatics stay in the bowl. The Vinho Verde wants shellfish; the Douro white handles richer fish and soft cheese.
Good to know

Bote questions, answered

What kind of wine is Bote Portuguese White?
It is a dry, fresh, aromatic blended white made from indigenous Portuguese grapes such as Malvasia Fina, built to be drunk young. Expect citrus, white flowers and a clean mineral finish rather than oak.
Where is Bote wine made?
Bote is produced in Portugal by Casca Wines, founded by winemaker Hélder Cunha in 2008. Bottles come from the Douro Valley, Lisboa and Vinho Verde, depending on the expression.
What does Bote wine taste like?
It is crisp and aromatic, with lemon zest, white flowers and pear over bright acidity. The Douro white is riper and softer, while the Vinho Verde is lighter and more tart.
Is Bote Portuguese White wine sweet?
The Douro and Lisboa bottlings are dry table wines. The Vinho Verde carries the light, refreshing off dry touch typical of that northern region, but it is not a dessert wine.
How much does a bottle of Bote white wine cost?
At our Commack store every Bote bottle is $12.98, in line with the $10 to $15 US retail tier. Order online for free curbside pickup or local delivery across Nassau and Suffolk.
