The story behind Bota Box
Bota Box launched in 2003 from Delicato Family Wines, a California company the Indelicato family has run since 1924. The name comes from the Spanish leather wine pouch, the bota, and the idea is the same: wine that travels well and pours on demand. Production runs through the Certified Sustainable Delicato winery in Manteca, drawing on California estate vineyards.
Inside each carton sits a vacuum sealed, BPA free Mylar pouch and a tap that keeps light and oxygen out. That is why an open Bota Box holds fresh for up to 30 days, and why the cartons, made from 100 percent recyclable post consumer fiber, send 85 to 96 percent less waste to landfill than glass. Market Watch named it Wine Brand of the Year in 2020 and 2021.
