The story behind Bolla
Bolla started in 1883, when Abele Bolla made white wine in the town of Soave to pour at his family inn, Al Gambero. In 1931 his son Alberto built the red cellar in Pedemonte, in the Valpolicella Classica zone, and that is where the house's Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella reds took shape. Bolla bottled one of the first commercial Amarone vintages in 1953, the 1950, released for Alberto's 80th birthday.
The house also makes Chianti from Sangiovese in Tuscany, so a single shelf covers both Veneto and Tuscan red. We have carried Bolla for over 30 years at 1171 Jericho Turnpike, and the Valpolicella and Chianti still move faster than anything else on the Italian red wall.

Bolla is the rare brand where the price never argues with you. The 750mL reds run $7.99 for Merlot and Valpolicella, $8 for Chianti, and $8.99 for Bardolino, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese di Romagna. Step up to the 1.5L magnums and you pay $10.99 for Cabernet Sauvignon or Sangiovese, $11.99 for Chianti, Merlot or Bardolino. That is restaurant house-pour money for a house with a royal warrant and a 1909 Bologna gold medal behind it. Buy Bolla online and we will have it ready at the counter.
Acid and dry cherry cut through tomato gravy, and the magnum feeds six.
Chill it lightly, pour with wood-fired crust and antipasto, no ceremony needed.
Magnum format, soft blackcurrant, and enough bottles for a backyard crowd.
