Bersano Barolo
Piedmont Nebbiolo since 1907, poured in Commack for decades.
The story behind Bersano
Giuseppe Francesco Bersano founded this house in 1907 in Piedmont, and his lawyer son Arturo turned it vineyard first from 1935, guided by the family motto: if you want to drink well, buy a vineyard. The cellars sit in Piazza Dante in Nizza Monferrato, in the Asti province, and the Massimelli family has run the estate since 1985, now with Federica Massimelli and her three sisters at the helm.
Every Bersano Barolo is 100 percent Nebbiolo, as Barolo DOCG law requires, with no blending permitted. Aging runs a minimum of 38 months with at least 18 in wood, and the house favors large oak botti and tonneaux over small new French barriques, so the tar and rose stay intact instead of vanishing under toast.

Which Bersano is right for you?
Barolo pricing has climbed hard across Piedmont, so we keep the shelf honest.
