The story behind Beringer
Beringer bought its Napa Valley land in 1875 and made its first harvest in 1876, which makes it California's longest continuously operating winery. German immigrant brothers Jacob and Frederick Beringer built it, and the house has been at it ever since. The Moscato you find here is a different animal from the Private Reserve crowd: a non vintage sweet table wine under the Main and Vine label, built on Muscat Blanc a Petits Grains and fermented to hold onto plenty of natural residual sugar.
Modern value lots can source fruit from Chile before blending and bottling in California, so the wine stays cheap and the floral character stays bright. No heavy oak, no long cellar time. We have poured this brand for decades because it does one job well: cold, sweet, aromatic, and easy on the wallet.
