The story

The story behind Bedford

Bedford Cabernet is California North Coast fruit, and the label is owned by Bedford Cellars, founded by Steven and Stephan Fisher, with Jason Welch making the wine. This is not the older Santa Barbara Bedford Winery label from 1994. Different house, different coast, different wine.

Every bottle is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from designated North Coast appellations: Napa Valley, Alexander Valley, Moon Mountain District and Red Hills of Lake County. Grapes come off the vines in cool early morning hours, ferment about 14 days in temperature controlled stainless steel, then rest roughly 20 months in French oak, about half of it new. The oak frames the fruit instead of burying it.

Good to know

Bedford questions, answered

Is Bedford Cabernet the same as Bedford Winery in Santa Barbara?
No. Bedford Cabernet is owned by Bedford Cellars, founded by Steven and Stephan Fisher, and makes North Coast California wine. Bedford Winery is a separate Santa Barbara label started by winemaker Stephan Bedford in 1994. Different companies, different wines.
Where is Bedford Cabernet from?
It is American wine from California North Coast appellations. Bedford bottles site specific Cabernet from Napa Valley, Alexander Valley in Sonoma County, Moon Mountain District in Sonoma Valley and Red Hills in Lake County, all 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
What does Bedford Cabernet taste like?
Expect dark cherry and currant with French oak spice and firm tannin. The fruit ferments about 14 days in stainless steel, then ages roughly 20 months in French oak, about half new, so the wood sits behind the fruit rather than over it.
How should I serve Bedford Cabernet?
Serve it slightly cool, 60 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit, in a large Bordeaux glass. Decant younger bottles 30 to 60 minutes. It wants protein: grilled ribeye, short ribs, slow roasted venison, BBQ ribs or extra sharp white cheddar.
Can I get Bedford Cabernet delivered or pick it up?
Yes. We offer same-day or next-day delivery across Nassau and Suffolk, free curbside pickup in Commack, and free local delivery over $250. Wine ships only to states where it is legal, confirmed at checkout. Must be 21 or older.
