Aymara Estate Chardonnay
Mendoza Chardonnay, hand-picked and unoaked, at a fair price.
The story behind Aymara Estate
Aymara Estate Chardonnay comes from Mendoza, Argentina, with fruit off the high altitude vineyards of Maipú. The vines sit on the bed of a prehistoric river carved by melting Andean ice, and that rocky ground keeps yields low, roughly 5,000 to 7,000 kg per hectare. Small, concentrated berries, all picked by hand and sorted by hand.
The Aymara line belongs to Bodega Don Manuel Villafañe, a family winery whose Mendoza roots run back nearly 400 years. The name honors the Aymara people of the Andean highlands. Fermentation runs cool in small batches, no heavy oak, so the fruit stays bright and the acidity stays crisp.
