The story

The story behind Alma Mora

Alma Mora comes out of San Juan, Argentina, not Mendoza, and that matters. The grapes grow in the Tulum and Zonda valleys at roughly 2,130 feet, irrigated by San Juan River meltwater and worked under more than 300 days of sun a year. Finca Las Moras, founded in 1993 and part of Grupo Peñaflor, makes it, and Australian viticulturist Richard Smart helped lay out the vineyards.

The red blend is 100% estate fruit, hand harvested and destemmed, fermented about 10 days, then aged 4 months in new American oak. That short rest in new wood is the whole trick: a little vanilla, no heaviness. We have poured this bottle for years because it drinks like something twice the price.

Buying guidance

Which Alma Mora is right for you?

Every Alma Mora bottle we stock is $9.99. Not a tier, not a range, one price across the red blend, the Malbec and the Sauvignon Blanc. For a wine grown on Andean meltwater, hand harvested, and given 4 months in new American oak, that number is hard to argue with. You can buy Alma Mora online and pick it up free at the curb in Commack, or take free local delivery on orders over $250. Same-day or next-day delivery runs across Nassau and Suffolk.

Good to know

Alma Mora questions, answered

Where is Alma Mora wine from?
Alma Mora is an Argentine wine from the San Juan region, grown in the Tulum and Zonda valleys at about 2,130 feet. Finca Las Moras, established in 1993 and part of Grupo Peñaflor, produces it.
What grapes are in Alma Mora Red Blend?
The red blend is built from Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot or Merlot, all estate grapes. It ferments about 10 days and rests 4 months in new American oak for a fruit forward profile.
Is Alma Mora red wine sweet or dry?
Alma Mora Red Blend is dry, with soft tannins and balanced acidity. The new American oak adds a touch of vanilla, but there is no residual sweetness; it reads round rather than sugary at 13.5% ABV.
What food pairs with Alma Mora Red Blend?
Grilled red meats, roasted lamb, smoked meats and pasta with rich tomato sauce all work. Semi hard cheeses like aged cheddar or gouda are a good match. Serve slightly cool, 60 to 64F.
Can I get Alma Mora delivered or pick it up locally?
