The story

The story behind 30 Degrees

The name is the whole story. In Lodi and the Central Coast, summer days bake the grapes into concentrated sugar, then the mercury falls about 30 degrees after dark, and that swing keeps the acidity intact. 30 Degrees built a label around that viticultural fact, and Zinfandel is the grape that shows it best. Zinfandel itself came to California during the 1850s Gold Rush by way of Croatia, where it is called Tribidrag, and Italy, where it is Primitivo.

The wine is dry, medium to full bodied, and aged in seasoned oak so the wood never crowds the fruit. We have poured this for Long Island backyard cooks for years because it behaves like a wine twice its price.

Good to know

30 Degrees questions, answered

Is 30 Degrees Zinfandel sweet or dry?
It is a dry red wine. The jammy, fruit-forward flavors are classic California Zinfandel, but the wine ferments fully, so residual sugar stays low and the finish reads dry rather than sweet.
Does the name mean it must be stored at 30 degrees?
No. The name refers to the 30 degree gap between vineyard daytime and nighttime temperatures, not storage. Storing wine at 30 degrees Fahrenheit would freeze and ruin it. Keep bottles cool and dark instead.
Why is its ABV lower than typical California Zinfandels?
The 30 Degrees Zinfandel sits at 13.5% ABV, while many California Zinfandels run 15% to 16%. That is deliberate, giving a smoother, less hot finish that keeps the fruit in front.
How should I serve 30 Degrees Zinfandel?
Serve it slightly chilled, 60 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit, in a universal red or wide Bordeaux glass. Cool the bottle 60 to 90 minutes before opening and let it breathe 10 to 20 minutes.
Can I get 30 Degrees Zinfandel delivered or pick it up locally?
