Nose
Rye grain leaps out first, sharp and grassy, then toasted oak and a quiet thread of dark caramel underneath.
Palate
Full and oily across the tongue, warming from the first sip. Spicy rye leads, toasted oak and caramel follow, black pepper builds through the middle.
Finish
Long and peppery, the rye spice hanging on well after the swallow.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Neat in a glencairn at room temperature lets the rye and oak show clearly. A splash of water opens the caramel and softens the 100 proof edge. One large cube works if you want it colder, but skip small cubes that melt fast and dilute the spice.
