Amarone is the great red of Italy's Veneto, made in the Valpolicella hills from Corvina and its blending partners. The grapes are dried for months before pressing, which concentrates sugar and flavor and gives the wine its deep color, dried cherry and fig character, and firm structure. Expect a full body, warming alcohol and a long finish.
