The story

The story behind Small Vines

Small Vines is a Sonoma County producer built around a single idea: plant the vines close together and farm them hard, so each vine carries less fruit and every cluster gets more attention. That density is a Burgundian habit, and it shows in the wines. The Pinot Noir is the point of the exercise, and the Chardonnay follows the same path, picked early, fermented with restraint, and aged in French oak that stays in the background.

We have carried Small Vines long enough to know what to expect from it. Sonoma County gives the fruit a little more flesh than Burgundy, and the house style keeps it in check. Expect red cherry and forest floor, fine tannin, and acidity that holds the wine together at the table. The Mk bottling is the more serious pour, and it earns the extra money.

Buying guidance

Which Small Vines is right for you?

The Small Vines Pinot Noir sits at $55.99, which is fair money for Sonoma County Pinot made with this kind of care. The Chardonnay is $53.99, and the Mk Pinot Noir is $79.99 for the nights that call for the better bottle. These are small production wines, so stock moves and does not always come back quickly. Good to know

Small Vines questions, answered

Where is Small Vines made?
Small Vines is a Sonoma County producer in California. The house is known for densely planted vineyards and low yields, a Burgundian approach applied to Sonoma fruit. We stock the Chardonnay and two Pinot Noirs.
What does Small Vines Pinot Noir taste like?
It is a cool climate style Pinot Noir: red cherry, forest floor, fine tannin, and acidity that keeps the wine lively. Sonoma gives it a little more flesh than Burgundy, but the house keeps it restrained rather than jammy.
What is the difference between Small Vines Pinot Noir and the Mk?
The Mk is the more structured bottling, with deeper fruit and more tannin to carry it. The standard Pinot Noir is the easier pour and the better value at $55.99. Both come from the same densely planted, low yield approach.
Can I get Small Vines delivered or pick it up?
Yes. We offer same-day or next-day delivery across Nassau and Suffolk, free curbside pickup at our Commack store, and free local delivery on orders over $250. Wine ships to the states where it is legal, confirmed at checkout.
Is Small Vines Pinot Noir worth the price?
At $55.99 it sits where serious Sonoma Pinot lives, and the farming behind it justifies the number. If you want the step up, the Mk at $79.99 is the more complex wine. Both are small production, so availability moves.
