The story behind Skinny Girl
Skinny Girl started in 2009 as Bethenny Frankel's ready to drink margarita line, and the vodka followed in 2012 after Beam acquired the beverage business in March 2011. It is a grain based spirit distilled in the United States and now bottled and distributed through Suntory Global Spirits in Chicago.
The trick is simple and honest: instead of 40 percent ABV, Skinny Girl vodka is bottled at 30 percent ABV, 60 proof. That lower proof lands around 75 to 77 calories per 1.5 ounce pour against roughly 100 for a standard 80 proof vodka. No oak, no aging, just natural flavors blended into the clear spirit.
