The story

The story behind San Giuseppe

San Giuseppe comes out of Vintwood International, the importer Robert Musorofiti and Frank Gentile founded in 1989. They launched the San Giuseppe label in 1993, moving from bringing in other people's bottles to building their own Italian wines. Gentile still works as master blender, tasting raw wine from growers' barrels in Italy each autumn and building the blends by hand.

The sparkling side is northern Italian. Prosecco from Glera grown in the Conegliano and Valdobbiadene hills, a Lambrusco out of Emilia-Romagna, and a pink from red grapes vinified off the skins. All of it goes through tank fermentation, the Charmat method, which keeps the bubbles natural and the fruit clean and forward.

Buying guidance

Which San Giuseppe is right for you?

This is everyday sparkling money. San Giuseppe Cool Red and Cool White both sit at $6.99, and the Sparkling Red is the same. Lambrusco runs $7.99, Moscato $8.99, and the Sparkling Rose $9.99, which is the bottle we hand people who want pink bubbles without the champagne conversation. Nothing here needs an occasion. Buy San Giuseppe online and we will have it ready at the counter, or send it out across Nassau and Suffolk.

Good to know

San Giuseppe questions, answered

Is San Giuseppe Prosecco?
San Giuseppe makes Prosecco from Glera grapes grown in the Conegliano and Valdobbiadene hills of Veneto. The same label also covers Lambrusco from Emilia-Romagna and a sparkling rose, so check the bottle for the style you want.
Who owns San Giuseppe wine?
Vintwood International LTD owns the San Giuseppe brand. Robert Musorofiti and Frank Gentile founded Vintwood in 1989 and introduced San Giuseppe in 1993 as their own Italian label rather than an imported third party wine.
Is San Giuseppe wine sweet?
It depends on the bottle. The Lambrusco and Moscato are noticeably sweet, while the Prosecco and Sparkling Rose run dry to off dry. Ask us at the counter and we will point you to the right one.
What is the difference between Prosecco and Lambrusco?
Prosecco is a white sparkling wine made from Glera in Veneto, light and dry. Lambrusco is a red sparkling wine from Emilia-Romagna, darker, fruitier and often sweeter. Both are made by tank fermentation rather than in the bottle.
