Nose
Dark plum and blackberry lead, then cocoa and a violet lift that keeps the fruit from sitting flat. Cherry comes up as it opens.
Palate
Full and sweet, with layers of plum, blackberry and cherry rolling over firm, grippy tannins. Cocoa and warm baking spice sit underneath, and the sweetness stays in check rather than cloying.

Long and warm, tannin still firm, cocoa and dark fruit lingering well past the swallow.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve in a proper port glass at cellar cool, around 62 to 65 degrees, never chilled hard. This one is young and tannic, so decant it an hour or two before pouring and leave the sediment behind. Pour small, two ounces is plenty. A splash of water opens it if you find the tannin tight.
