Nose
Ripe dark cherries and plums lead, with a lift of sweet baking spice, clove and a touch of vanilla from the oak. Opens with a few minutes of air.
Palate
Full bodied and smooth, soft tannins wrapping around dark fruit, plum and cherry, a savory herbal thread underneath, gentle acidity keeping it lively, warm spice through the middle.
Finish
Warm and lingering, dark fruit fading slowly with a last brush of sweet spice. Comfortable length, nothing harsh.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve a touch below room temperature, around 62 to 65 degrees, in a wide bowl to let the cherry and spice open up. Decant 20 to 30 minutes if you are pouring right away, or just let it breathe in the glass. No ice. A good swirl does more than anything else here.
