Crafted in the limestone hills of Valpolicella Classica, Italy’s Veneto region, Santa Sofia Recioto (375mL) is a luscious, limited-production dessert wine made from Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes that are naturally dried on straw mats to concentrate sugar, aroma, and texture. Fermentation is purposely stopped early, preserving a velvety sweetness balanced by lively acidity.
In the glass it shows an opaque garnet core with ruby flashes. Aromas of black cherry preserves, Medjool dates, violet, and baking cocoa leap forward, followed by subtle hints of toasted hazelnut, star anise, and crushed herbs. The palate is unctuous yet fresh, delivering layers of ripe plum, fig, dark chocolate, and sweet spice that glide to a persistent, warming finish.
