Nose
Dried fig and toasted walnut lead, with a thread of caramel and a lift of orange peel. A faint rancio note, like old oak and dried citrus, sits underneath.
Palate
Smooth and medium full, the sweetness rounded by a decade in cask. Fig and caramel up front, walnut and a gentle oak spice in the middle, orange peel brightening the edges. Soft tannin, warming alcohol.
Finish
Long and warm, fading slowly with dried fruit, caramel, and a last flicker of orange peel.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve slightly cool, around 60 to 65 degrees, in a small tulip or copita glass. Pour neat, no ice needed, though a sliver of orange peel works. A splash of water opens the walnut notes. Let it sit a few minutes after pouring to release the aromas.
