Nose
Ripe blackberry and dark cassis jump out first, with a cedar note that adds a dry, woodsy edge. A little air brings out a faint tobacco leaf.
Palate
Full bodied and round, with smooth tannins that let the blackberry and cassis flavors roll through. Cedar chimes in mid palate, and the texture stays plush without turning heavy.
Finish
Warm and lingering, the fruit fading slowly into a soft, toasty note. Length is generous for the price.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve it a touch below room temperature, around 60 to 65 degrees, in a wide bowl Cabernet glass. Give it 20 minutes of air in the glass or a quick decant to soften the cedar edge. No ice, ever. If you open it young, a vigorous swirl does the trick.
