The Long Island Wine & Spirit Merchant TeamTasting notes
Nose
Dark cherry and blackberry jam lead, then warm vanilla and caramel from the bourbon barrels, with a toasted oak edge and a hint of sweet baking spice.
Palate
Full-bodied and round, soft tannins, a touch of residual sweetness. Blackberry and black cherry up front, then vanilla, caramel, and toasted oak on the mid-palate, finishing with a warm, slightly sweet bourbon note.
Finish
Medium-long, echoing vanilla, caramel, and dark fruit, with a gentle warmth that lingers.
How to serve and what to pour it with
Serve slightly cool, around 60 to 65 degrees, in a Bordeaux glass to focus the fruit and oak. No decanting needed, but a short splash of air opens the vanilla. Pour a modest glass, since the sweetness and warmth build. It is easy to drink on its own, so keep the pour small and savor it.
